The swinging door and time

Breath as the swinging door

Inside and outside

Tao Te Ching —> Emptiness/void, as referenced in the Tao of Physics

Emptiness is what gives any thing its use

The wheel’s center, the room’s doors and window openings, the vase’s center

Tangible vs. the void

Breath passing between inside/outside, us as the swinging door,

sees the self as not inside nor outside.

How does this relate to our relationship with time

Breath is simply time passing

Be one with the door … without attaching to the inside

or the outside

… the in breath or the out breath

Contentedness —> Place and time as one

Discontentedness —> Place and time at odds

A yearning to separate time and place is

a yearning to control a limitless expanse of

possibilities we are not separate from

Self = Time = Place

Zenki Roshi: space connects (breath as the swinging door)

vs. space separates

Uji (Being-Time): time is not separate from doubt

If you are in doubt…

Find full presence in the doubt.

Hedging as the risk —>

following the swinging door

vs. being the swinging door

of the breath and our

relationship to the greater world.
